Mr. Hibner's philosophy

Regular advancement is a sign that a scout is enjoying himself and that the troop is providing him with challenges. While we strive for a scout to obtain the rank of First Class within his first year, this goal is only achieved when both the scout and the troop are active. A scout has demonstrated that they have learned valuable outdoor skills when they have reached the rank of First Class. Ranks above and beyond that are primarily dictated by the scouts willingness to accept challenges from new and unfamiliar skill sets learned from merit badges. Merit badges are intended to foster growth from the scout's curiosity of a particular interest and possibly turn it into a lifelong hobby or possibly a career.
